Southern Milky Way over Historic Camp Muir - Mt. Rainier
Named for naturalist John Muir, this camp sits at 10,188 ft on Mt. Rainier and is an access point to the glaciated areas and summit above. This image was compiled from data taken the night after we'd made camp in late July, 2018. The Milky way rises in the south over some of the stone buildings of the camp. The first public buildings were constructed there in 1921 and the camp is now on the National Register of Historic Places. In terms of raw physical effort, this image holds the record for the hardest to acquire to date.
